Digital Signature Feature
CASE STUDUY #1
INTRODUCTION
This feature was designed for Quality and Safety Managers working in the field, allows them to add signatures to their inspections, in order to consider an inspection complete.
In this case study, I will provide insights into my thought process, the methods and tools I used, and explain my reasoning and thoughts behind the decisions I made.
UX CHALLENGES
Integrating the signature section as an organic part of our checklists
Creating an easy to work experience, one that feels intuitive and simple
The signature is the most important part of the inspector’s working process and as a result has a larger meaning to our user

RESEARCH
The research process included working closely with the PM, understanding the users’ needs and examining existing digital signatures conventions on different apps.
I also interviewed users and learned that signing digitally within the app, will not only provide a sense of completeness, but also provides accountability and help their daily work to be easier.
Insights
Based on my research, some of my key findings were:
80% of our users Would like to be using signatures for performing checklists
Need to add signatures fields while answering checklist
Using fillable PDF forms for sign off of inspections
Currently: no connection to mobile Workflow
Checklists’ conformance is needed
USER FLOW
Based on my research, I created a rough story-line.
As part of this user flow , I started to map out what kind of user flows are in need.
WIREFRAME FLOW
I started the design process with low fidelity wireframes.
In my work I’ve tested different ways to integrate the signature section in the workflow, while creating an intuitive experience.
TO SUMMARIZE
Before
No signature section on checklists on Mobile
Hard to sign correctly on Desktop
Lack of accountability for the process
Inspectors running checklists need to end the process with a handwritten signature
UX SOLUTION
After
Added signature section in the bottom of checklists
UI for section will be slightly different from other checklist sections in order to create a visual hierarchy
User will be notified if signatures are required to complete the checklist
Sense of control - by using alerts and instructions during the process
Sense of completion - after finishing the process
